Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

"I ordered this watch for its clear traditional look and its unbeatable reduced price (Timex 170 Years anniversary). After a few weeks I admit that the watch increased my positive emotions when wearing it. Why? The dial and the hands are in a perfect contrast and look very cool and traditional. The second-hand for chronograph-function with its W-tail as a reminiscence to the Waterbury-design-line ja a very fine design-benefit that satisfies my eye. The Indiglo makes it comfortable to read the dial in darkness and I Love it. The black leather strap is well-done and looks good, also feels smooth and is easy to close and open. So I hope that ja a long-lasting strap. For only about 79 Euros because of the Special offer it was THE perfect deal for me. For the normal price of 149 Euros I'd find it a good option to buy because of its classic look and good quality but there is much competition in this price range. However, I became very interested in Timex products and meanwhile also bought zur Marlin Moonphase wird blue dial and steel-bracelet which makes me very happy."
